Most sensors have a 2:3 ratio
When you request a photo in a certain format, your original file may not be in the right proportions for the desired print format since digital sensors are not all proportional to usual print formats.
For example, when you ask to make an 8x10, the ratio is not the same, it is 4:5. If you want to keep the image in its entirety, you will need to choose a 2:3 ratio format, an 8x12, or reduce the photo so that it can fit into the desired format.
If you don't care about keeping the full image, you can crop the photo to the new ratio.
